*Job posting may close early due to the volume of applicants. Software Engineer – Edge ApplicationsFastly is looking for a Software Engineer to join its Edge Application Engineering team.
You will work primarily on the Fanout product.
You will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining new features for these products in Rust and C++.
You will be an integral part of the team responsible for Edge Applications at Fastly.
You will be expected to ensure that all of these products meet the highest standards of quality, reliability, and customer/developer experience.
What You'll Do:Develop, test, and maintain new features in Rust for a variety of products Fastly offers.Design and implement new Fastly features and enhancements for these products, based on customer feedback and modern best practices.Identify, diagnose, and resolve issues within the products.Ensure timely and effective solutions to maintain high-quality customer experiences.Work closely with cloud engineers, product managers, and customer support teams to understand user requirements and address issues related to the products.Maintain documentation for the products, including usage guides, best practices, and troubleshooting resources.What We're Looking For:At least 2 years of experience with systems programming languages (Rust, C/C++, Go)At least 1 year of experience working with large scale systems.Experience at creating clear, concise, and comprehensive technical solutions.Experience working directly with customer support teams, and directly with customers, to diagnose and troubleshoot problems.We'll be super impressed if you have experience in any of these:Cloud/serverless platformsPublish/subscribe messaging systemsWeb/proxy server developmentDistributed networking systemsProtocols (HTTP, Websockets, gRPC, etc)Open source Infrastructure as Code projects or technical communitiesSoftware testing frameworks and code coverage analysis toolsWork Hours:This position will require you to be available during core business hours and occasional nights and weekends as needed for on-call support.
Work Location:This position is open to Hybrid And Remote Work Locations.
The preferred locations for this position are:
San Francisco, CADenver, CONew York, NYFastly currently embraces a largely hybrid model for most roles which allows employees flexibility to split their time between the office and home.
There is a strong preference for Hybrid near a local office.
However, we may be willing to consider remote candidates within the US.
This position may require travel as required by your role or requested by your manager.

Salary:The estimated salary range for this position is $143,860.00 - $172,632.00.
Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location.
This role may be eligible to participate in Fastly's equity and discretionary bonus programs.
