Job Summary: As a Software Engineering Manager at Ruggable, you will be responsible for leading several pods of engineers dedicated to building our internal application suite to improve operational effectiveness globally. Products may include tools to route and print orders, inventory management systems, and shipment and supply chain platforms to ensure an excellent and consistent experience.
Strong candidates will have deep experience in architecting distributed microservices and full-stack systems. Additionally, Ruggable is looking for someone passionate about promoting an engineering mindset within the team through coaching, mentoring, and adhering to best practices.
What You'll Do: Formulate quarterly tech roadmap and determine the long-term core product architectureCollaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to align software projects with company objectives and internal customer needsClearly understand and communicate how projects relate to business priorities, establish team objectives, and help reinforce that with the rest of the teamCommunicate progress, risks, and outcomes to senior management and relevant stakeholdersResolve conflicts and remove obstacles that impede the engineering team's progressSet clear expectations with individuals based on their level and role and aligned to the broader organization's goals. Meet regularly with individuals to discuss performance, and development and provide feedback and coachingUse metrics to monitor the health and productivity of the team and to understand capacity limitations for forecasting possible headcount changesWhat You'll Need to Have: Required: 7+ years experience in software engineering, 3+ of people management experiencePrevious experience as a strong engineer (current stack is React (Next.JS), TypeScript, GraphQL, Node, AWS (Lambda, SQS, SNS, SES, DynamoDB), Kubernetes, PostgreSQL/CockroachDB)Experience leading teams to architect and develop applications from scratch. Experience building APIs, data-driven applications, and other similar solutionsExperience developing and improving team processes (e.g., planning, code review, test automation)Experience in the management of nearshore and offshore contract resourcesStrong analytical skills with the ability to assess situations and develop effective solutionsPreferred: Experience with eCommerce and public-facing applications and how they plug into internal tools (Shopify preferred)Experience in operational and warehouse processes and proceduresCompensation: $185,000 - $195,000 per year base salaryAn annual bonus percentage that varies based on level of roleEmployer matching (up to 3% of base salary) for company sponsored 401K planAt Ruggable, we offer competitive compensation and benefits packages.
