Our Software Engineering team is seeking a Solution Architect to join the CORE Services application team, supporting the Training Solutions organization. This position is based out of Seattle, WA. Be part of a high performing software engineering organization which is in the process of transforming the aviation training industry through Competency Based Training and Assessment (CBTA) digital solutions.
Position Responsibilities:Responsible for designing and building solutions that best meet the business needs and are aligned with the IT strategy and roadmaps.Responsible for refining existing software products or implementing new technologies to solve a variety of business problems.Strong background in architecture with real-world experience of architecting, designing, and delivering software products.Work with Portfolio Architect to define long-term technology roadmaps across multiple software products.Ability to build strong relationships across the business and IT. Able to understand the long-term needs of the solution you are developing and enable delivery by building a rapport with team members both inside and outside of the organization.Good interpersonal skills including the ability to relate complex topics in simple and accessible language.Experience working with major cloud application development platforms (Azure, AWS).Experience in threat modeling. Nice to Have:Training Solutions application experience.Campus Scheduling technology, platforms, and applications experience (Qualtero (BKS) Fox).Relative Certifications (Azure, AWS) or additional education. This position is hybrid. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite in Seattle, currently three days a week on Tuesday / Wednesday / Thursday. This is at the hiring team's discretion and could potentially change in the future.
RequirementsBasic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience): 8+ years of experience in the IT/Software Services Industry.2+ years of experience as a solution, system, or application architect designing and delivering scalable, performant solutions.6+ years of experience writing and testing software.Experience with modern technology development practices including but not limited to DevSecOps; continuous integration / continuous delivery; test automation; agile development and work management.Experience with products AWS and/or Azure cloud platform.Excellent working knowledge of the entire software development life-cycle.Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.Working knowledge of MS SQL Server and/or Oracle.Working knowledge of Threat Modeling. Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): Master's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field.Experience in a general-purpose programming language including but not limited to: Java, C#, Java web framework (Spring), modern JavaScript frameworks.Certifications in AWS and/or Azure Architecture. Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g., Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
