Responsibilities
• Facilitate communication and understanding between families, school, and community• Provide information about school and community resources & services to families• Act as a cultural link between parents, students, school, staff, and community• Collaborate and coordinate resources with school parent liaisons• Interpret consecutively or simultaneously for parents• Translate documents for distribution• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism• Assist Spanish families and students• Facilitate social and cultural adjustment in school
Requirements
• Interpreter Certification or Bachelor's degree in Spanish or related field preferred• Bilingual and biliterate in English and Spanish• Skilled in interpersonal relations• Ability to work with others in a team setting• Advanced knowledge of Spanish educational terms, phrases and acronyms• Intermediate knowledge of inter-cultural communication• Operating knowledge of and experience with word processing and interpreting system• Knowledge of translation software for Microsoft Word• Language interpreting experience preferred
