What you’ll be responsible for:
Circle is looking for a top talent for a part-time role working directly with the Chief Legal Officer in building out multiple objectives. While optimizing an efficient and effective legal department this person will be tasked with creating and maintaining relationships with other key departments internally, and facilitating high-level external relationships. 
What you'll work on:
Collaborate with the the Chief Legal Officer and the Deputy General Counsels to develop a legal department strategic plan and create processes and practices to improve the day-to-day effectiveness and efficiency of Circle’s legal team
Identify needs in the legal and corporate affairs department, and assist in recruiting and developing talent to fill those needs
Conduct research on regulatory and legal issues relevant to stablecoins and the digital asset markets 
Collaborate with the CLO to draft and publish thought leadership content, helping to keep the CLO at the cutting edge of our industry
Engage with cross-functional stakeholders such as Policy, Finance, Business and Product to identify strategic areas of focus for the CLO and the Corporate Affairs team
Facilite and prepare the CLO for key internal and external meetings
Conduct special projects as requested by the CLO

What you’ll bring to Circle:
10+ years of legal experience at a top tier law firm with a strong, demonstrated knowledge of:
A range of general corporate, finance and securities law experience.
An interest in and demonstrated achievement in intellectual and academic initiatives. 
Managing a variety of initiatives, matters and transactions requiring an analysis and distillation of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, ideally in a financial services environment, and experience in performing supporting complex legal research and preparing legal memoranda intended for internal clients and senior leadership.

You’ve done your time at a large law firm and in-house and you are excited by the possibilities of working at a high-growth company that requires you to put your legal knowledge to work.
Extensive experience working with and presenting to diverse, cross-functional teams.
Experience at a company operating in the FinTech industry is preferred, but not required.
You are passionate about Circle’s mission and values, financial technology, and the disruptive potential of cryptocurrency and blockchains.
You are comfortable working outside of your comfort zone in an evolving and a fast-moving environment and relish the professional growth that comes with working at a growth company that is prone to rapid changes, extreme velocity, and requires managing multiple projects simultaneously.
You apply sound, practical business judgment to your legal recommendations, and are creative at solving problems while balancing important legal risks for the business.
You can exercise good judgment in time-sensitive, high-pressure situations, work autonomously and independently with minimal guidance and are also comfortable working collaboratively as part of a team.
You are obsessively organized, energetic, passionate about supporting your team/ a team player.
You have a JD (preferably from a “T-14” law school and/or with honors/law review from a US News & World Report Top 50 law school) 
Candidates with top clerkships preferred. 
You have active membership in at least one U.S. State Bar. 
Prior experience leading an in-house legal team. 
Prior experience at a AM Law 100 top-tier law firm. 
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience/familiarity with Slack, Apple MacOS and GSuite.

Additional Information:
This position is eligible for day-one PERM sponsorship for qualified candidates.

Circle is on a mission to create an inclusive financial future, with transparency at our core. We consider a wide variety of elements when crafting our compensation ranges and total compensation packages.
Starting pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to: relevant experience, skill set, qualifications, and other business and organizational needs. Please note that compensation ranges may differ for candidates in other locations.
Base Pay Range: $207,500 - $270,000
Annual Bonus Target: 17.5%
Also Included: Equity & Benefits (including medical, dental, vision and 401(k)). Circle has a discretionary vacation policy. We also provide 10 days of paid sick leave per year and 11 paid holidays per year in the U.S.
