The Special Education Teacher is responsible for providing individualized and small group instruction to students with diverse learning needs in accordance with their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). This position focuses on promoting academic success, personal growth, and social development in a supportive and inclusive classroom environment. The Special Education Teacher will collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure that each student receives the appropriate accommodations and services they need to succeed. Utilize specialized techniques and resources to enhance learning and support students specific needs. Regularly assess student progress and adjust instructional methods to ensure growth and development. Use data and assessments to monitor student progress and modify instruction as necessary. IEP Development and Implementation: Collaborate with IEP teams to develop, review, and implement individualized education plans for students with special needs. Ensure that IEP goals and objectives are aligned with state and federal education standards. Participate in IEP meetings and work with parents, administrators, and support staff to communicate student progress and set future goals. Behavior Management and Support: Develop and implement behavioral intervention plans as needed, and provide support for students with social, emotional, or behavioral challenges. Foster a positive, supportive, and respectful classroom environment. Use positive reinforcement and other effective techniques to encourage appropriate behaviors and social interactions. Manage and de-escalate crises, if necessary, while maintaining a safe classroom environment. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with general education teachers to adapt and modify curriculum for students with special needs. Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians to keep them informed of student progress, needs, and behavioral issues. Collaborate with other professionals, including speech-language therapists, occupational therapists, counselors, and paraprofessionals, to ensure holistic support for students. Classroom Management: Create and maintain an organized, safe, and inclusive classroom environment. Establish and enforce classroom routines, expectations, and rules. Provide differentiated materials and resources to meet the needs of all students. Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development and training to stay current with best practices in special education.
