Job Title: Special Education Teacher Job Summary: We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team, providing support and specialized instruction to students with diverse learning needs. The Special Education Teacher will work closely with general education teachers, parents, and specialists to create and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that foster academic, social, and emotional growth. The ideal candidate will be skilled in differentiating instruction and committed to helping every student reach their full potential. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement IEPs that address the specific educational, emotional, and behavioral needs of each student. Deliver differentiated instruction and modify curriculum to meet the learning needs and goals of students with disabilities. Utilize various instructional methods and assistive technologies to enhance learning. Monitor student progress, assess performance, and adjust instructional strategies as needed. Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and school staff to support inclusive education. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to discuss student progress and strategies for support. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including IEP documentation, progress reports, and assessments. Participate in IEP meetings, providing input on student goals, accommodations, and strategies. Provide guidance and support to paraprofessionals and other support staff working with special education students. Uphold state and federal special education regulations to ensure compliance and a positive learning environment. Qualifications: Education & Experience: Bachelors Degree in Special Education or a related field from an accredited institution. Masters Degree in Special Education (preferred but not required). Experience working with students with disabilities in a school setting is preferred. Licensure & Certification Requirements for Missouri: Missouri Initial Professional Certificate (IPC) or Career Continuous Professional Certificate (CCPC) in Cross-Categorical Disabilities (K-12), Mild/Moderate Disabilities, or another relevant area of Special Education, issued by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) . Passing score on the Missouri Content Assessments (MoCA) for Special Education. Missouri Substitute Teaching Certificate (if applicable for certain support roles). First Aid and CPR Certification (preferred for managing student health and safety). Completion of Missouris Annual Professional Development Requirements to maintain certification. Skills & Abilities: Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and behavioral interventions. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for collaboration with students, parents, and staff. Ability to adapt and tailor instruction to meet diverse student needs and IEP goals. Solid organizational skills to manage documentation, assessments, and progress tracking. Proficiency with assistive technology and other educational tools for special education.
