The McCall School of Visual and Performing Arts of Coker University is seeking qualified applicants for a Special Lecturer/Director of Choral Activities starting August 2024. The Special Lecturer/Director of Choral Activities is a 9-month position. The successful candidate will have a strong background in music education methods and choral conducting and will demonstrate the ability to maintain and grow a strong choral program within a liberal arts context. Primary responsibilities include conducting large and chamber choral ensembles, directing and teaching applied lessons and other courses in the music education program, and teaching courses in the music curriculum according to the candidate's qualifications and program needs. The successful candidate will also plan and execute choir tours to strengthen the college's regional reputation and lead in music-program efforts to recruit outstanding students and share administrative duties as needed. Required qualifications: Doctorate (D.M.A. or Ph.D.) in Choral Conducting or Music Education, professional conducting and performance experience, and/or a successful history of teaching in a K-12 public school setting with certification.
