Length:Term of positions is 52 weeks; full-time 40 hrs/wkLocation:2324 E McDowell Rd., Phoenix, AZ, 85006Compensation:$15 /hour, plus $1000 housing allowance (paid $250.00/week)Start Date:07/08/2024Application Due Date:Preference given to applicants that submit application by at least six weeks prior to start date.Position TitleSpecial Uses Resource AssistantPosition DetailsStewards Individual Placement Program (Stewards) provides individuals with service and career opportunities to strengthen communities and preserve our natural resources. Participants work with federal agencies, tribal governments, and nonprofits building institutional capacity, developing community relationships, and supporting ecosystem health.Stewards in partnership with the Tonto National Forest seek a Special Uses Resource Assistant to ensure permits are issued when appropriate and performed per law, regulation, and policy. Special Use permits authorize multiple uses that boost the local economy and provide environmental research and education.Position Responsibilities will include:· 1. Special Uses Database (SUD's):o Monitoring of SUD's for Admin to Standard requirementso Creating SUD's reports on request· 2. Billing:o Annual billing of select Special Use Permitso Tracking of bills, payments & dunningso Creation of bills & dunningso Monitoring unclaimed payment databaseo Billing point of contact for permittee questionso Creation & tracking of Cost Recovery billing on request· 3.Special Use:o Creation of special use permits/cost recovery agreements on requesto Assist with permit auditso Maintain permit financial fileso Create special use fileso Maintain special use file systemo Filing of special use paperwork on requesto Correspondence with permittees regarding special use issues· 4. Trainings provided related to activity:o Special Uses Database, GIS , Specific special uses training as availableMinimum Requirements:· Bachelors degree· Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable by Conservation Legacy (over 21 years old or drivers license for at least three years).· Must be 18 years or older.· Must have High School Diploma/ GED · Must have or be able to obtain a post-secondary degree by end of service (Associate's or Higher)Preferred Qualifications:· GIS SkillsBenefits:· $1,000.00/month living allowance. (pre-tax, paid out $250/weekly)· $50/monthly commuting allowance. (pre-tax)· $4,750.00 Professional Development and Travel fund.· On-the-job training related to position responsibilities.*The USFS Resource Assistant Program ( RAP ) is a rigorous, immersive, paid internship providing developmental and training opportunities for individuals interested in learning more about Forest Service careers. After completing a minimum of 960 hours of satisfactory work and an associate degree, RA's may acquire a two-year certificate of noncompetitive hiring eligibility. The certificate enables participants to apply to internal merit announcements for qualifying permanent General Schedule FS positions as well as a Direct Hire Authority for FS Career positions.How to ApplyApply on-line at: .
