Salary Range, GSR C: $117,035 - $136,961 depending on skills and experience
These roles will be responsible for leading the development of education, advice and projects for the On Farm Support (OFS) in Horticulture including orchard and production systems.
A key aspect of this role is sharing your expertise within the wider OFS team and helping educate farmers and growers on risks, issues, opportunities and activities.
You will work closely within the OFS directorate, the wider Ministry for Primary Industries, and lead relationships with external organisations such as industry representatives, research institutes, universities, and councils.
To succeed in this role you'll have: Post Graduate Tertiary qualification(s) in a related field, or relevant equivalent experience.Advanced technical knowledge and understanding of horticulture systems, including aspects that threaten or enhance their sustainability.Extensive knowledge and understanding of the New Zealand primary sector at an operational and strategic level.A comprehensive knowledge of the primary sector and the context it operates in.Significant experience in relationship management including working with farmers and growers.Extensive existing primary sector networks.Ability to coach and mentor others.Action-oriented, focused on delivery, self-motivated and able to work without direct supervision, but remain a team player.Well-developed organisational skills with the ability to think ahead, prioritise and plan appropriately.Mo te peka - About the Business Unit On Farm Support is part of MPI's Agriculture and Investment Services business unit.
