JOB SUMMARY:
The Music Specialist, in alignment with the Show Direction Team, is responsible for the management and supervision of the Entertainment Division's Music program. Will be involved in the music coordination, protocols, and techniques for rehearsals. Will oversee the maintenance and procurement of all music and musical instruments on property, will conduct music workshops, assist Show Direction with musical aspects of auditions, manage music inventory, purchasing, and align with all teams on maintenance, while serving as the point person for all divisional music related usage, needs, issues, or concerns. Will assist in writing scopes for music contract acts. Works in tandem with Show Direction to provide musical feedback and instruction to all musicians and singers in regard to performance and vocal safety both on and off set.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Initiates and manages various action items or processes relating to the Singer and Musician roles and venues across property. Supports Entertainment Operations Show Direction and Management, Casting, Projects, and Events to ensure full coordination, planning, and execution of all musicians related shows and atmosphere offerings, meet and greets, events, activities, and performances.
Partners with necessary departments to ensure all performance materials, training manuals, SOP's, and all singer and musician related documents are accurate, updated, and properly tracked. This includes any updates to recordings, aligning with the audio lab and submitting any approvals to the Senior Manager of Show Direction for submissions.
In alignment with original creative intent and the Show Direction Team, will provide vocal and musical specific feedback to performers and/ or show direction and venue management based on set observations. Helps to maintain show quality while motivating musicians to peak performance. Makes decisions on weather calls and safety calls, as needed with venue management, and show direction. Will also monitor sets as needed to ensure that performers are using any equipment, instruments, inner ears, and performing music as directed to support show quality.
Coordinates and oversees the music specific portions of the audition process which includes internal and external auditions, event and/or projects auditions, and any other audition related items. Offers informed casting recommendations to Show Directors in accordance with current guidelines.
Maintaining a global calendar for venue, project, and casting musician needs to develop a big picture of usage.
Run all aspects of the singer and/or musical workshops related to development programs from scheduling the space, arranging the class itinerary, and partnering with all areas of the division to determine when they are needed.
Preparing overall music program correspondence within the Entertainment Division including organizing and providing all necessary workshop sign-up sheets, flyers, etc.
Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in Music preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
3-5 years' experience with music reading, maintenance and coaching preferred.
3-5 years of experience with the entertainment or theme park industry in a leadership role preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Training or knowledge in the use of Musical and Vocal Training is preferred.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as sheet music, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from Team Members and venue leaders, customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized simple and complex situations.
