Description: Specialty Clinic Lead Referral Coordinator Essential Functions: Ensures current and create standardized referral workflows. Prioritizes referrals by their urgency and addresses them in a timely manner. Participates in the selection, orientation and training of referral personnel. Reviews details and expectations about the referral with both ordering providers and patients. Requests new referrals to be ordered when applicable. Point of contact for patients and specialists for any questions or rising concerns. Schedule appointments for testing, doctor consults and other duties as requested by the Specialty Clinic Staff. Prepare needed records and imaging studies to be sent to specialists to which patient is being referred. Keep patients and outside facilities up to date with the status of their referrals. Relay and record any problems associated with referrals or patients back to Specialty Clinic Supervisor. Assign responsibilities to referral specialist. Taking into account the production requirements and the capabilities of each individual worker. Manage incoming and outgoing referrals. Tracking appropriate documentation to promote team awareness and ensure patient safety. Additional Responsibilities: Communicate with Specialty Clinic Supervisor and nurses regarding any problem or questions with referrals. Help delegate and/or oversee job duties to Specialty Clinic referral specialist. Expectation of Service: This is a non-exempt 40 hour per week position. Regular and punctual attendance is required. Overtime may occasionally be required in order to complete assignments that are given by the Specialty Clinic Supervisor. Physical Requirements: This position requires continual sitting and typing at a computer terminal, answering phone, some walking, twisting bending, stooping, and lifting of up to 25 pounds. Specialty Clinic Lead Referral Coordinator Educations, Qualifications, Experience: Preferred Management experience High School graduate or equivalent 2. Computer experience required 3. Medical Terminology preferred Personal Characteristics: Be able to communicate with customers and associates in a professional manner. Be able to preside over other personnel within referral management. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 1. Computer Experience 2. Typing 3. Telephone Etiquette 4. Communication Skills 5. Ten Key 6. Conflict Management with irate customers or insurance offices.
