Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) to join our team in California. The SLPA will work under the direct supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to help provide speech and language therapy services to individuals with communication disorders. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for helping others and a commitment to improving the lives of students through effective communication.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the licensed SLP in providing direct therapy services to students with speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders.
Implement therapy plans designed by the SLP, focusing on improving communication skills such as articulation, language comprehension, and expressive language.
Conduct speech-language screenings without interpretation, using predetermined screening protocols developed by the SLP.
Document and maintain accurate records of student progress, therapy sessions, and other relevant information.
Prepare materials and equipment for therapy sessions and assist in maintaining a clean and organized therapy environment.
Follow treatment plans and protocols as directed by the supervising SLP, ensuring consistency and adherence to established goals.
Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other educational professionals to support student communication goals within the classroom and at home.
Participate in meetings, training sessions, and other professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in speech-language pathology.
Comply with all applicable state and federal regulations regarding the practice of speech-language pathology and maintain the necessary licensure and certification.
Qualifications:
Associates degree in Speech-Language Pathology Assisting or a related field from an accredited program.
Current and valid California SLPA license.
Strong understanding of speech and language development and disorders.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow directions from a supervising SLP.
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Experience working with children or in a school setting is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand, and move around the therapy environment as needed.
Occasional lifting of materials and equipment related to therapy sessions.
