The Speech Therapy Department Manager is responsible for partnering with their fellow Program Managers and the Chief Program Officer to ensure successful cross-departmental collaboration and implementation of Boyer's services. The Speech Therapy Department Manager is responsible for managing the capabilities of the Speech Therapy Department, ensuring proper staffing and support, while directly supervising the department.

ResponsibilitiesDevelop and oversee service standards and processes, ensuring compliance with ESIT and DCYF requirements.Collaborate with managers and staff to support the success of the Medicaid Match Program.Work with leadership to enhance funding and revenue opportunities, supporting the understanding of budget realities.Assess staffing needs, conduct training and orientations, ensure proper materials/processes are in place.Conduct regular (weekly) 1:1s with employees, to provide coaching, training and support.Handle all performance management within department, including annual performance process and merit increases.Plan and conduct department meetings to ensure proper communication, feedback, and messaging within department.Resolve and address complaints or issues of employees within department, in collaboration with other managers, as needed.Set direction of department, allocate resources; manage scheduling and assignment of caseloads and/or coverage.Review and approve timecards, expense reports, and leave requests.Ensure proper procedures are followed for offboarding employees; collection of equipment and caseload reassignment.Meet regularly with Program Leadership to maintain strong teamwork across departments.Maintain 25% caseload as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP); see Speech-Language Pathologist job description for specifics.Other duties as assigned.Position RequirementsExperience & Education Previous experience of five years as an SLP working with children who have disabilities, is required.Educational requirements include a Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology; background in neurogenic speech disorders, autism, and pediatric feeding desired.Prior supervisory experience is strongly preferred.Certifications & Licenses Must possess and maintain a Certification of Clinical Competences by the American Speech and Hearing Association and Washington State Department of Health Speech and Language Pathologist License.Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License, automobile insurance, and a reliable means of transportation.Skills & Abilities Demonstrate and uphold Boyer expectations and values, ensuring accountability among employees.Strong communication and collaboration skills required, both written and verbal, for effective team interactions and discussion.Work with fellow managers to deliver consistent agency messages.Motivate and mentor staff through regular performance management and constructive conversations.Effectively address and resolve conflicts and concerns.Ability to recognize issues and proactively address them.Strong understanding of ESIT requirements.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThe Speech Therapy Department Manager is responsible for directly supervising the Speech-Language Pathologists and two part-time Dieticians. Supervisory responsibilities include recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, disciplining, coaching, terminating, and making compensation-related decisions for all employees within the department.

Work Environment, Physical Demands & Travel RequirementsThe work environment for this position is a combination of remote work (if desired) and onsite at Boyer's locations. When onsite at Boyer, the environment is a typical office environment or typical classroom environment for small children. The physical demands for this position require the employee to regularly use computers, sit/stand, talk, and hear. When working with children, physical demands include sitting on the floor, reaching with hands/arms, and lifting/moving small children. Travel requirements include the ability to transport oneself to appointments or between offices as necessary, on a daily basis. Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's license and automobile insurance if driving a vehicle.
