Type: Unpaid Internship

Schedule: Part-time, unpaid ten-week position starting on Monday, January 13, 2025 and ending on Friday, March 21, 2025

Notes on Schedule: Must be available a minimum of 8 hours per week, including some hours on either a Monday or a Thursday.
Location: Ohio History Connection, 800 E. 17th Ave., Columbus, Ohio 43211

Reports to: Annual Giving Officer

About Ohio History Connection:

The Ohio History Connection, formerly the Ohio Historical Society, is a statewide history organization with the mission to spark discovery of Ohio's stories.
Chartered in 1885, the OHC carries out history services for Ohio and its citizens focused on preserving and sharing the state's history.
This includes housing the state historic preservation office, the official state archives, local history office and managing more than 50 sites and museums across Ohio.


Summary:

Raising money is increasingly a science, with proven strategies that rely on data analysis and comparisons from past campaigns.
Raising money is also an art, and things such as AI allow us to both create art but also use our imagination and creativity to leverage when AI is appropriate in fundraising.
This internship project will help people interested in marketing, data analysis, evaluating fundraising AI tools, persuasive writing, or similar skills by creating a Proposed Annual Giving Plan.
The Plan project will include research into best practices for annual giving, recommended statistical analysis reports, evaluation of fundraising AI tools, and other components.
The internship project could also include assistance with fundraising events and marketing campaigns, with practice in persuasive writing

Essential Functions: Research best practices in annual gift plans Articulate recommended practices and steps to achieve them Present research in a coherent, organized way, in the form of a "plan" Experiment with fundraising-specific AI tools and create a spreadsheet delineating the pluses and minus of various tools, as well as an ability to show its use Create, analyze and recommend data analysis reports that most help with expanding annual giving Participate in events, report creation, writing, and other activities as needed Required Education, Skills, Experience: Must be enrolled in an academic program OR a recent graduate from an academic program (within one year) Majors in Communication, marketing, statistics, sociology, anthropology, library science, journalism, public relations, museum studies, business administration, business development, nonprofit leadership, or many other possible majors.
Experience with EXEL and the other suite of Microsoft 365 products preferred.
Experience with Ai tools a plus but not required.
Required Competencies: Works well both independently, and with and in support of colleagues to complete work.
Demonstrates a potential to communicate well in written and verbal communications, including informal mediums like email and meetings Behaves professionally in regard to matters of respect and civility toward all, including staff, visitors, donors and any others.
