The Security Issue Management engineering group, part of Stores Security, is looking for an innovative, passionate, and outcome-oriented Business Intelligence Engineer.
What we do
The Security Issue Management team builds solutions that keep Amazon systems and data secure on behalf of the Amazon customer. Our customers range from security engineers who need a comprehensive understanding of Amazon systems and their security state, to service teams who need solutions that make it easy to build and operate secure systems. We use the latest technology, including AWS, to solve security problems at Amazon scale. We employ automation and machine learning to reduce, or eliminate, manual effort to help our internal customers raise the security bar. We have bold goals to stay ahead of the curve on security and delight our customers with intuitive and effective products.
Key job responsibilities
- Provides robust BI solutions for complex problems, that are extensible and scalable.
- Understand high-level business objectives and continually align work with those objectives to meet needs of business
- Refine data strategies that cut across functional teams and make technical trade-off decisions for long term/short-term needs.
- Learn and understand a broad range of Amazon's data resources and know how, when, and which to use and which not to use
- Serve as liaison between the business and engineering team to achieve the goal of providing actionable insights into current business performance, and ad-hoc investigations to support future improvements or innovations. This will require data gathering and manipulation, problem solving, and communication of insights and recommendations.
- Drives best practices in operational excellence, data modelling, and analysis. Ensure that BI solutions are correctly and efficiently supporting the business.
- Write high quality code to retrieve and analyze data and build data visualizations to tell the story of business trends, patterns, and outliers through rich visualizations.
A day in the life
You will own and contribute to studies that evaluate the customer experience of executing use cases on security issue management services, as well as technology/industry trends and the voice of the customer. You will join an expanding team, leverage your technical and domain skills, and apply a variety of methodologies to drive these studies. You will collaborate with product teams and senior leaders to provide insights and drive improvements that help us achieve our vision to be Earth's Most Customer-Centric Company.
About the team
We are a team of builders that develop products, services, ideas, and various ways of leveraging data to influence product and service offerings to raise the bar in security. Security issue management system is SDO's centralized tool with the goal of becoming the only place SDO builders need to go to understand and manage their security issues and to drive action on the highest security risk areas of the business as well as for security teams to drive campaigns efficiently and effectively while simultaneously reducing the effort teams spend on security related tasks.

Austin, TX, USA | Seattle, WA, USA BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets
- Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results
- Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.
- Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning and data mining
- 7+ years of industry related professional or military experience AND 5+ years of SQL experience
