Summary of Role
The HPAPI Development, Chemical R&D Senior Scientist demonstrates in-depth working knowledge of scientific principles and leads the implementation of new methods/processes to solve problems. This role prepares and reviews summaries of observations and is capable of verbal and written presentations documented proficiently in laboratory notebooks to internal and external audiences. The successful candidate will write and review SOPs, training modules, technical transfer documents, specifications, summary reports, and technical reports to be sent to clients or used in regulatory filings and is responsible for ensuring complex technical information is well understood by team associates, management, and clients. The position performs audits of laboratory work and reports and maintains a high level of professional expertise through familiarity with scientific literature. The HPAPI Development, Chemical R&D Senior Scientist determines appropriate methods and procedures on new assignments. This position requires superior leadership behaviors of the Sterling core competencies and non-negotiables, as well as expertise in functional competencies included in this position profile.

Your ResponsibilitiesSolves synthetic problems with minimal supervision.Executes synthesis activities from milligram to small gram quantities with minimal supervision.Designs multi-step synthetic processes from commercially available starting materials and executes challenging chemistry experiments.Optimizes conditions of proposed and designed synthetic routes.Primary responsibility for executing organic syntheses in a timely, efficient, and independent manner.Experience with Highly Potent APIs (HPAPIs) and intermediates is a plus.Experience with Prep-HPLC purification and lyophilization technique is highly desirable.Experience with Payload-Linker construct syntheses would be an advantage.Isolates and purifies products and intermediates by using standard laboratory techniques.Interprets and communicates analytical data.Utilizes proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), up to and including full-face respirator or supplied air as required when performing job functions.Performs routine analytical procedures to monitor reaction progress (i.e. TLC, GC, NMR, HPLC, KF).Requirements for the RoleBachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field required with a minimum of 15 years' experience, ORMaster's degree in Chemistry or related field with a minimum of 9 years' experience, ORDoctoral degree with a minimum of 4 years' experience.Understands reaction mechanisms and can apply them to practical execution of given synthesis.Knowledge in handling, analyzing, and characterizing chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and related organic molecules.Ability to apply scientific principles, theories, and concepts to research problems and develop solutions for analytical problems related to drug substances in compliance with appropriate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and regulatory guidelines.What We Offer
