Capital One is seeking a Senior Director of Software Engineering to lead, manage, mentor, and grow an extremely talented software engineering team to build exciting software solutions within the Enterprise. This leader must have the ability to attract and recruit the industry's best talent, and simultaneously have the technical chops to ensure we invest in the right solutions on behalf of our engineering teams and customers. Success in the role requires an innovative mind, a proven track record of delivering resilient systems, a keen eye towards managing risk, and a passion for tackling complex software problems in a horizontal capacity on behalf of millions of customers.
The Senior Director of Software Engineering will be part of the Financial Core Technology organization within the Enterprise Platforms Technology line of business. This senior leader will have oversight of software engineering initiatives that will further the core functioning capabilities of cloud native solutions while leading software engineering teams that will develop a scalable, and resilient backend platform with architectural standards. Additionally, they will manage stakeholder relationships across the enterprise, influence innovative technical solutions, and prioritize talent development within their teams.
You will:
Lead, manage and grow multiple teams software engineers in building services and tools that automate governance and compliance requirements, and lead improving the developer experienceCollaborate with internal teams to find areas of opportunities for automation and machine learningMentor and guide the professional and technical development of engineers on your teamWork with product leaders to define the strategy, roadmap and destination architectureManage a portfolio of diverse technology platforms and projects to build scalable applications that meet our customer needsPartner with architects, product owners, and software engineers to drive the implementation of new applicationsWork within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across the line of business and the enterpriseLead efforts to build new and modernize existing applications into AWS environments; work to modernize our existing tech stacksConduct design and code review to ensure compliance with standardsEncourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversityContinuously improve software engineering practicesLead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of your solutionsBring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering communityBasic Qualifications:
Bachelor's DegreeAt least 9 years experience in software engineering or software developmentAt least 7 years experience in people managementAt least 7 years of experience in developing scalable backend applications and architectural standardsAt least 3 years of experience with cloud technologies, building enterprise platformsPreferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering10+ years of experience in software engineering or software development7+ years of experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)3+ years of experience with horizontal platforms or related services and technologiesCapital One will consider sponsoring a new qualified applicant for employment authorization for this position.
