We are searching for a Senior Healthcare Economics Consultant to join our experienced Medical Economics team. This creative role offers an excellent opportunity to directly impact an innovative function and secure your future with an industry leader.
This position will provide analytic support and consultation to local market health plans related to the modeling, analysis, and administration of healthcare expenditures and revenues.
You will investigate key business problems through quantitative analyses of utilization and health care costs data. The individual will interpret and analyze clinical data from various sources and recommend best approaches for its consolidation and presentation to senior leaders. Your analyses will be used to create viable, real-world solutions in a complex health care landscape.

Primary Responsibilities:
Interpret and analyze claims, capitation and membership data, and recommend best approaches in support of underwriting, actuarial and utilization analyses
Lead projects to completion by contributing to database creation, statistical modeling and financial reporting
Quickly understand and run with vague ad hoc analytical requests from internal organizational leaders and deliver the information in a concise, meaningful way
Performs complex data validation and conceptual analyses
Analyze and interpret reporting tools utilized by the internal customer groups
Provide management with statistical findings, explanations, and conclusions
Reviews data extraction and analytical projects of other analysts on the team
Serves as a company thought leader on innovative analytical approaches

Required Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in an analytics capacity and evidence of creative, proactive problem solving
Experience in the healthcare insurance industry preferably with exposure to medical claims data
Advanced or higher level of proficiency working with MS Excel including Pivot Tables, Charts and complex functions
Intermediate or higher level of proficiency with SQL or SAS
Proven excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proven ability to effectively manage multiple priorities
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with Medicaid
Experience with Power BI or Tableau
Familiarity working with a large medical claims database

The salary range for this role is $88,000 to $173,200 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
