The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a
Sr. Mission Advancement Individual Giving Advisor , with a portfolio of individual principal gift prospects and donors focused on the
Western States
region of the U.S. This position can be home-based within the Western States preferably in the Bay area.
Responsibilities
Cultivate relationships with current and past American Heart Association donors who have a proven interest in our impact-centered mission, with a focus on individuals.
Close $2.5 million+ annually from individuals, serving as a subject matter expert on the American Heart Association's fundraising priorities.
Engage individuals and their philanthropy representatives in the mission of the Association while cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donations in the seven-figures and higher.
Complete a minimum of 100 meaningful interactions with donors and prospective donors each fiscal year, developing and managing a portfolio of approximately 50 individual donors across the Western States region with giving capacity in the seven-figure range.
Conduct solicitation of 24 seven-figure gifts annually for restricted and unrestricted purposes.
Collaborate with field directors on strategies and opportunities to identify and cultivate principal gift prospects.
Create and execute customized engagement strategies for donors and prospects in portfolio to ensure growth of donor relationships.
Maintain accurate and timely records of all activities in donor database (Salesforce CRM).
Report plans, activity, trends, progress, and results to Mission Advancement leadership and other various internal audiences on a regular basis.
Participate in training activities and work with other team members to develop programs and strategies to advance revenue development for the Association.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
Five (5) years of experience in fundraising with at least three years focused on individual major and principal gifts (high six-figures and up).
Experience in planning and implementing engagement opportunities that align with organizational mission, goals, and strategies at national and local levels.
Demonstrated experience working with complex philanthropic donors or clients with proven fundraising results at the six-figure and higher gift ranges.
Demonstrated collaborative skills with all levels of staff, prospects, volunteers, and donors.
Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, preferably with respect to translation of scientific information for lay-audiences.
Ability to travel up to 30% locally and 10% overnight.
Preferred Experience:
Knowledge of or experience working in public health, healthcare, medicine, community health, or scientific research.
Knowledge of the philanthropic landscape.
Experience using donor relationship management software, such as Salesforce CRM, Blackbaud, Dynamics, and/or Raiser's Edge.
Compensation
– Salary minimum to the midpoint of the range is $120,000.00 to $142,000.00. This position is incentive eligible based on achieving certain targets. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply.
