The Senior Engineer in Planning Engineering will enhance power systems for safety and reliability, support NY/NJ clean energy goals, and align long-term strategies.
Key responsibilities include identifying clean energy investments and designing projects for the ten-year capital plan, performing load forecasting, contingency analysis, and power system analyses, and developing solutions like new substations, transmission projects, and Non-Wire Alternatives (NWAs).
The engineer will lead or support projects such as CLCPA, CGPP, DSIP, LRP, EMP, and Climate Resiliency, provide operations support, review interconnection studies, and ensure compliance with standards.
Additionally, the role involves mentoring junior engineers, attending industry conferences, participating in stakeholder meetings, and serving on technical committees.
Collaboration with the Utility of the Future team on clean energy initiatives is also a key responsibility.
This position reports to the Section Manager of Planning.

Required Skills & Experience
8 years of experience with a Bachelors Degree (BS) in Electrical Engineering
OR 6 years of experience with a Masters In Electrical Engineering
Minimum of 6 years of experience working with electric power systems
At least 3-5 years of direct experience with electric system planning.
Well-organized, detail-oriented, and flexible to handle multiple assignments and deadlines.
Experience planning concepts and electric system analysis.
Experience with Aspen, Tara, PSSE or PSS/E
Experience with transmission planning studies
NERC, FERC experience
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
ISO experience preferred
Experience with Electric Vehicle (EV) studies/projects and Earning Adjusted Mechanisms (EAM).
Participation in industry conferences, stakeholder meetings, and technical committees.
