Dewberry's Raleigh, NC office includes over 200 design professionals, including a large Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Structural (MEPS) Group focused on design services for clients in North Carolina, Virginia, and South Carolina. Our experience includes all major healthcare systems, higher education, K-12 schools, central plants/infrastructure, and more. Because our backlog continues to grow, we are seeking an additional Senior Plumbing/Fire Protection Engineer to join our Raleigh, NC office. As a Senior Plumbing/Fire Protection Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical guidance and training/mentoring. You will assist Project/Client Managers by providing technical guidance to help meet the client's desires and budget. You will collaborate with a team of engineers on a variety of projects. In addition to working with other Plumbing/Fire Protection engineers, you will team with electrical, mechanical, structural, and other disciplines to provide full-range services to our local and regional clients. In short, provide technical guidance associated with Plumbing/Fire Protection requirements to accomplish our commitments. You will report to the MEPS Plumbing/Fire Protection Department /Discipline Manager.
Responsibilities The Senior Plumbing/Fire Protection Engineer would be expected to provide the following to others on the design team to effectively and successfully complete projects:
Technical guidance and quality oversight, including code review, of all project work involving Plumbing/Fire Protection engineering. Technical training and development of staff. Assist in establishing and improving standards, practices, guidelines, and specifications for Plumbing/Fire Protection discipline area. Engineer of Record. Provide 'on-the-spot' advice and decisions - technical and cost estimates. Coordination with all the disciplines involved, including outside consultants. Technical interface with code officials and contractors. Required Skills & Required Experience Accomplished professional engineer (PE). Existing licensure in NC is preferred. Minimum 15+ years of experience. Experience should include technical oversight of multiple projects with proven success providing technical oversight on projects that meet contract specifications and technical standards to the client on time and within budget. Self-motivated with highly developed verbal, written and interpersonal skills. Well organized, takes good notes.
