CNA SCHEDULE AVAILABLE: Full Time Flex 36 weekly hours - 72 biweekly Shift - Day/Eve(7a-7:30p)12-Hour shifts, every other weekend -every other holidayUnion-Elkton Maryland Hospital locationThe Postpartum/Labor and Delivery Sr. CNA must demonstrate the skills and knowledge necessary to provide care to newly delivered mothers and their newborns as well as including supports persons/family in the provision of care.
Job duties include, but not limited to, performing and accurately recording vital signs, accu-checks (both finger sticks and heel sticks), newborn bathing/testing/procedures, newborn feeding/changing, NOWS/mobilizing patients out of bed, and maintaining the environment of care.
The Postpartum/Labor and Delivery Sr. CNA should have strong communication skills and be able to work collaboratively with nursing and provider colleagues to provide interdisciplinary care.
Must be comfortable taking the lead.
In addition to the clinical duties of the Sr. CNA, the Postpartum/Labor and Delivery position requires the execution of clerical duties to help support unit flow, capacity management and admission/discharge workflows.
Answering phones, handling lock doors.

Provides for the care needs of the patients under the direction of the primary nurse.
This position requires employees to demonstrate initial and annual competencies in order to remain in this position.
CNA's may be asked to perform other duties within their scope of practice.
Discretion and confidentiality are required.
The Sr. CNA supports activities of daily living under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
May perform all treatments and services within the scope of practice of the Certified Nurse Assistant Maryland state licensure.
Provides for the hygiene, personal care and activities of daily living, assisting patients with meals, measuring and recording vital signs and reporting abnormal vital signs to the primary nurse.
Must perform accurate measurement of intake and output, perform EKG and finger stick glucose testing.
- Following established policies and procedures, other duties may include:
Performs peripheral IV insertion
Performs phlebotomy venipuncture
Other duties may include order entry into Meditech
Service Excellence to all customers at all times
Patient care competency
Adheres to patient safety regulations and initiatives
Vital Sign and AccuCheck competency (obtaining, documenting, and reporting accuracy)
Basic computer skills
Provision of nursing assistant care within scope of practice
Exceptional interpersonal communication skills
Collaboration with multi-disciplinary team members
Teamwork and Flexibility
Unit Clerk duties such as, answering phones, preparing charts, entering charges, calling provider consults, setting up patient transportation, and assisting staff with clerical needs and audits.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Prolonged standing, walking.
Physical and emotional stamina.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Risk Exposure Category A - Potential for exposure to blood borne/pathogens, HIV, Hepatitis B or Hepatitis C in the performance of this job.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High school graduate or equivalent AND maintains a license as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
Previous patient care experience including taking vital signs
2 years clerical or related experience preferred
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Maryland CNA license required
BCLS Certification required
