LightEdge Solutions is looking for experienced technical individuals for our IBMi– SR Engineer position! As a part of the LightEdge Solutions team, you will be accountable for understanding client business and technical requirements, technical design based on best practices, solution implementation, documentation and communication with your team and client. Candidate must have at least Ten (10) years hands-on experience in working and supporting IBM Power environment and related networking equipment. Primarily responsible for the maintenance and administration of Power (IBMi servers,, multiple partitions), including message handling, command line utilities, work management, job and print control, device management, system configuration and security setups, backup and restore, client access application, external process and/or file transfer integration, and PTFs management. Also knowing and supporting TCP/IP networking are required. Experience with replication or HA software like MIMIX or iTera. Power HA etc is required.
\n ResponsibilitiesDesign, Implement and support various aspects of the IBMi (iSeries-AS/400) platformMaintain and deploy any required operating system upgrades and PTF installationsDesign, maintain IBM iSeries backups utilizing BRMS, FSFC, and VTLKnowledge to setup BRMS software and enterprise tape library architecture (save/restore) Expert levelKnowledge to set up and configure Full System Flash Copy(FSFC) Expert levelKnowledge of Mimix replication software, or similar software experience, is requiredKnowledge of Help Systems tools such as CCSS, Robot Scheduler, Robot Alert, Nagios or similar software is requiredPerform Tuning and Capacity planning as required for all IBM iSeries Systems/Logical PartitionsProvide tier-3 support for operations and applications teams where possibleAssist with various object implementations when requested and adhere to IBM iSeries object level security best practicesTask oriented, capable of managing multiple work streams while maintaining focus on resultsProvide 3rd tier support for escalated issues regarding customer systemsAbility to communicate clearly in a large enterprise environmentAble to support 24/7 on-call-Perform basic hardware maintenance activitiesUnderstand and recommend IBM OS400 system and user securityProvide technical support, training and direction to NOC staff and other team membersConfigure partitions and systems using the Hardware Management Console (HMC) through traditional HMC and Virtual HMCInterface to vendor support organization(s) and work through problem resolution Requirements Knowledge of AS/400 system administration and troubleshooting.Knowledge of AS400 High Availability setup, configuration and administration of MIMIX, iTerra, etcExperience with PowerVM and VIOS a plus for future designsExperience with PowerVC as well as Live partition mobility a plusProficient in LPAR design, build and validation (Logical Partitioning) a plusProficient in planning and upgrading the IBMi operating system (OS/400) and HMC/FirmwareProficient in IBM iSeries work managementKnowledge of network protocols and troubleshooting skills.
