Asian Americans Advancing Justice-Atlanta is the first nonprofit legal advocacy organization dedicated to protecting the civil rights of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander (AANHPI) and Arab, Middle Eastern, Muslim, and South Asian (AMEMSA) communities in Georgia and the Southeast.
We envision a social movement in which communities of color are fully empowered, active in civic life, and working together to promote equity, fair treatment, and self determination for all.


Founded in 2010 as the Asian American Legal Advocacy Center (AALAC), our organization became part of the Asian Americans Advancing Justice affiliation in 2014.
Since then, we have re-organized our work into four major focus areas: Policy Advocacy, Organizing & Civic Engagement, Impact Litigation, and Legal Services.


About The Finance Team:

The Finance Department is responsible for managing the organization's funds and supporting the other departments including, but not limited to, procuring and paying vendors, tracking cash flow, expenditure, investments, financial planning, and analyzing business trends.
The finance department decides how much funds are needed and when, how best to use the available funds.


Position Summary:

The Staff Accountant is responsible for a variety of general accounting support tasks in the Finance Department including processing accounts payable and accounts receivable in a timely and accurate manner.
This position will be supervised by the Accounting Manager and CFO, and interacts with staff across the organization, requiring good interpersonal communication skills in both written and verbal form.


How You'll Contribute to Our Impact: Staff Account supports all departments with purchasing and vendor relationships for a minimum of 1 year Review invoices for appropriate documentation prior to payment for a minimum of 1 year Verify and post credit card transactions and reconcile credit card accounts Update record, maintain cash flow balance, adding journal entries, and other records detailing financial business transactions (e.g., disbursements, accounts payable, accounts receivable, deposit public purchases or fees, donations and employee reimbursements, including maintaining spreadsheets for such billings) Enter data into the accounting system Compute and verify timesheets Backup for payroll Compile data and prepare a variety of reports Obtain vendors W-9s and payment information Reconcile records with internal company employees and management, or external vendors or customers Recommend actions to resolve discrepancies Investigate questionable data and transactions Work on any other projects deemed necessary by Supervisor and Chief Financial Officer What You'll Bring to the Team: Associate's degree or greater in Accounting Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting Payroll and Quick Books experience a plus Experience working in a non-profit is preferred. Attention to detail and ability to multitask is an asset Must be PC proficient and able to thrive in a fast -pace setting. Must be competent in Microsoft applications including Excel, Outlook and Word. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills required. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines required.
