Staff Auditor I - Financial Audit Division (Raleigh Office) Location Wake County, NC : Description of Work The Office of the State Auditor (OSA) is looking for Staff Auditor I to assist with various financial audits performed on entities across state government, including institutions of higher education.

Participate in planning meetings for assigned audits where the team discusses audit risk and designs audit procedures to address the risks. Conduct on-site fieldwork, including gaining an understanding of internal controls. Analyze accounting transactions and perform test procedures. Continue learning to expand and develop technical skills. THIS IS A CONTINUOUS POSTING FOR MULTIPLE POSITIONS AVAILABLE Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies Basic knowledge of auditing and accounting principles and practices. Demonstrated ability to oversee multiple priorities. Demonstrated experience communicating effectively both orally and in writing. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Bachelor's degree with 24 semester hours in accounting from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The Office of the State Auditor uses the Merit-Based Recruitment & Selection Plan to fill positions subject to the State Human Resources Act (SHRA) with highly qualified individuals. To receive credit for work history and credentials, the applicant must list the information on the online application form underneath the Work Experience section, specifically "Duties Summary". Any information omitted from the application cannot be considered for qualifying credit. The State of North Carolina welcomes attached or incorporated resumes, cover letters, and reference information, but these items will not be used for screening or qualifying credit or in lieu of a completed and submitted state application. If applicants earned a foreign degree, foreign degrees require an official evaluation for U.S. equivalency and must be submitted to Human Resources for verification. The National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) has several options on their website that can provide credential verification: Reference checks will be performed on all top finalists.
