Ford Model E is responsible for developing the key technologies and capabilities – such as EV platforms, batteries, e-motors, inverters, charging and recycling – to create ground-up, breakthrough electric vehicles. Dimensional engineering is more than just the assembly of parts; it is all about paying attention to detail, proactive assessment of design, and data-driven decision-making. As a member of the Ford Advance EV team, you will collaborate closely with various cross-functional teams including but not limited to the Design Studio, product engineering, manufacturing quality & operations teams to set and achieve meticulous quality standards for our vehicles. From the conceptual stage to production, your expertise will be integral in delivering a flawless experience to our customers.
What you'll be able to do:
Identify and develop team skills to align with Ford's vision.
Train & perform Tolerance analysis for the entire vehicle.
Establish internal GD&T standards in accordance with ASME Y14.5M-2009.
Define and optimize Datum strategies for better product quality.
Establish a quality data management platform and help various cross-functional development teams in analyzing the data.
Perform Virtual builds from the 3D scans.
Lead and contribute to all cross-functional meetings.
Design and implement verification testing methods to validate targets.
Collaborate with quality functions to ensure targets are understood and measurable.
Develop Manufacturing based variation analysis models and align with product design variation analysis to meet design requirements based on manufacturing reality.
Develop / architect body build sequence based on manufacturing process size scope, body dimensional accuracy, process variation.
Lead dimensional build activities during tooling try outs at launch to achieve stable, repeatable and in dimensional spec body prior to SOP.

The minimum requirements we seek:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in automotive Dimensional Engineering.
Strong numeracy, literacy, and logical reasoning skills.
Appreciation for dimensional variation in assemblies and statistical analysis.
Creative, constructive, and positive approach to problem-solving.
Excellent communication and influencing skills with technical proficiency.
Knowledge of various production and prototype manufacturing methods.
Knowledge of 3D statistical tolerance analysis using 3DCS/VisVsa.
In-depth knowledge of ASME Y14.5M-2009, ASME GD&T Certification preferred.
Knowledge of DFMEA and DFMA.
Experience in using Polyworks software.
Experience in Aluminum and Steel Body Structures.
Experience with Measurement Systems, Metrology equipment (ie. Faro Arms, Light Scanners, etc.)
Knowledge of Production & Quality Control in manufacturing.

Preferred Requirements:
Master's Degree in Engineering
Excellent understanding of GD&T standards
High level of expertise and proficiency with Catia, Enovia, or similar tools including drawing and modelling practices and methodologies
Hands-on experience building and launching automotive products
Experience with Microsoft Office applications and other information management tools
Strong written and verbal communication skills
A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Certificate of Accomplishment from a recognized Design educational institution, or equivalent skills and expertise
Experience using Confluence, Jira, Asana, or other project management tools
An eagerness to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment where you are part of a high performing team
A system approach to design and development with the desire and curiosity to strive for exceptional delivery execution and continuous improvement
