The Schwarzman Animal Medical Center (AMC) is offering a new full-time Senior Veterinarian position in the neurology and neurosurgery service.
Requirements for this position are ACVIM(N)/ECVN board certification (or eligibility) and New York State licensure.
Neurologists at the AMC must be willing to participate in the training of residents in medical and surgical neurology.
Active involvement in resident training requires maintaining up-to-date knowledge of veterinary literature and the oversight of book clubs, journal clubs, and clinical research.
Preparation for house officer training requires commitment outside of regular scheduled clinical hours.
AMC is a collaborative veterinary hospital with residency training programs in nine recognized veterinary specialties.
This environment is ideal for life-long learning and provides opportunities for exponential growth for motivated clinicians.
The neurology service is staffed by 3 board-certified (ACVIM(N)) specialists, 4 full-time technicians, one rotating intern, and one service coordinator.
The service is supported by on-site availability of a high-field MRI, 64-slice helical CT, Brainsight neuronavigation, Nico Myriad surgical system, surgical ultrasonic aspirator, Kerl Storz ventriculoscopes/endoscopes/exoscope, and full electrodiagnostic (Cadwell) equipment with telemetry.
The neurology service functions 7 days/week.
The successful candidate's regular schedule will include 2 weekend shifts and 5 weekday shifts per two-week pay period.
Regularly scheduled days off will be consecutive; however, service coverage may necessitate changes to the regular schedule.
This will not, however, require more than 2 weekend shifts/pay period.
Changes to the schedule will be at the discretion of the service head and will be made at least six weeks prior to the change.
