Staff Nurse- Operating Room

Title: Staff Nurse- Operating Room Job Responsibilities: Providing surgical patients with perioperative care in recovery, procedure, and operating rooms. Stocking operating rooms with sterile surgical equipment, linens, and supplies. Developing and implementing nursing care plans for surgical patients. Preparing patients for surgery by cleaning and disinfecting areas to be operated on. Assisting surgeons during surgical procedures. Applying sterile techniques in handling medical instruments and equipment pre-, during, and post-surgery. Collaborating with surgical teams and other medical professionals on patient medication and post-surgery care. Updating patient files and medical records. Assisting with the ordering, maintenance, and safe storage of surgical equipment and supplies. Providing patients with post-surgery care instructions and answering questions. Requirements: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Assessment skills, logical thinking skills, computer operations, facsimile machines and copy machine ability. Basic aseptic principles and patient care technique. Competency in post-operative care skills and assessments. Assesses the patient's recovering for sedation and/or anaesthesia and makes appropriate judgments for nursing intervention. Recognizes life threatening arrhythmias and initiates appropriate therapy and/or assures assistance. Monitors the patient's level of consciousness through communication and appropriate observation of blood pressure, 02 saturation, cardiac and respiratory status. EDUCATION EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: CPR certification ACLS required One year OR nursing experience preferred
