SUMMARY Provides primary care medical services to the patients of UMMA.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES Provides thorough, compassionate, evidence-based patient care.Reviews patient record, including allergies, problems, medications, and immunization status.Elicits and records patient's medical history and social determinants of health.Accurate and thorough SOAP note documentation.Examines patient to determine general physical condition.Orders and accurately interprets only necessary laboratory tests, pathology results, radiologist reports in the development and execution of a treatment plan for patients.Documents gathered information in medical record as required by policies and analyses reports and findings of tests and examinations.Prescribes treatments and medication utilizing evidence-based medicine and based on patient's condition and allergies.Discusses any possible side effects to medication or immunization with patient.Prescribes vaccinations to immunize patient from communicable diseases.Advises patients concerning diet, hygiene, and methods for primary and secondary prevention of disease.May provide prenatal care to pregnant women and may provide postnatal care to mother and infant, if applicable.Refers patients to medical specialists or other practitioners for specialized treatment.May perform minor surgery/procedures based on privileges granted.Attempt to address all care gaps at each visit.Follows up with patient regarding progress in high-risk or emergency cases.Conducts physical examinations to provide information needed for admission to school, consideration for jobs, or eligibility for insurance coverage.Administer Family Planning services in compliance with title X Rules and Regulations/Protocols.Ability to develop positive rapport with patients and families to foster the provider/patient relationship.Active participation in the Quality Improvement Program, Peer Review, Provider and clinical meetings, as well as UMMA's Coverage and On-call schedule.Provide preventative health care services in accordance with HEDIS and other national evidence-based standards.Able to complete patient charting in a timely fashion to support billing levels.Able to address all inbox messages in a timely manner.Maintain current knowledge base and appropriate licensure.Able to work 1 Saturday a month if need is identified.Able to work collaboratively as a Care Team member.Able to supervise NPs and PAs.Able to precept medical students.SECONDARY DUTIESProvides leadership support to clinical staff members.Support with expansion of UMMA services throughout Southern California.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITYThe incumbent in this position does not have formal supervisory responsibilities. However, as a senior professional, he or she is expected to provide leadership and mentoring to less experienced staff members, medical students, as well as volunteers.

Experience and training as a physician.Physician with an active unrestrictive CA license to practice medicine by the Medical Board of California.EDUCATION: Education and training necessary to obtain a medical degree. Requires valid license to practice medicine in the State of California. Board Certified or Board Eligible in specialty preferred.Education, training, and experience necessary to meet the underwritten requirements for inclusion under UMMA's malpractice insurance coverage.PHYSICAL ACTIVITY While performing this work, the incumbent:
