This role offers a unique opportunity to provide compassionate psychiatric care for a specialized pediatric population, primarily patients within oncology, infectious diseases, and sickle cell disease. You'll work closely with children, adolescents, and young adults in both inpatient and outpatient settings, responding to consults and often ongoing management of psychiatric care for your patients. This position emphasizes collaboration with a dedicated multidisciplinary team, including oncologists, psychologists, social workers, and other specialists, all working together to support children and young adults with complex medical needs. Our hospital's diverse resources and the flexibility afforded by this position will allow you to prioritize patient care, work with a diverse team of experts committed to the same goal, and reduce many of the limitations to providing excellent patient care seen in other settings, such as long wait times for referrals and financial barriers to care. Key Responsibilities: Patient Care: You will deliver high-quality psychiatric care with roots in evidence-based practice as well as the strong clinical judgement necessary to adapt these treatments to the unique needs of our patients and families. Your responsibilities include taking detailed medical, family, and social histories; performing detailed mental status exams; diagnosing and treating mental health concerns; and adapting that care to the other needs of patient being treated for oncologic, infectious, hematologic and other illnesses. You will also provide follow-up care, facilitate referrals, and closely monitor how patients respond to treatment, adjusting plans as necessary.Consultation and Collaboration: This role is all about teamwork. You'll be a trusted consultant for nursing and clinical teams, offering guidance on challenging patient care situations, discharge planning, and medication management. Working closely with care teams and families, your work will help support the health, safety, and quality of life of patients, families and providers while always fostering a supportive environment and the values of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.Education and Staff Development: We believe in investing in our people. As part of your role, you'll directly supervise, educate, and mentor staff and trainees. You'll provide professional development opportunities, facilitate hands-on clinical experiences for child and adolescent psychiatry fellows, and support continuing education for all healthcare providers at our hospital.Quality Improvement and Compliance: We're dedicated to raising the bar for patient safety and quality and will always look for ways to improve. As such, you will be encouraged to find ways to improve your individual care delivery as well as participate in quality improvement initiatives, ensuring our care meets or exceeds current practice guidelines and regulatory standards.Minimum Education and/or Training: Board certified or eligible in Pediatrics required. Board certified or eligible in specialty area preferred.
Minimum Experience: Experience in Pediatrics or specialty area preferred.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by Law: Unrestricted medical license to practice in the State of Tennessee.Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by SJCRH Only: Must maintain active unrestricted privileges at SJCRH.Compensation: In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $139,921 - $290,617 per year for the role of Staff Physician-Psychiatrist.
