Position Title: Staff Psychologist; Counseling Center

Detailed Description: As an important element of the Thriving Student Model, provide broad-spectrum, brief counseling and psychotherapy, psychological assessment and testing, consultation, case management/care coordination, and crisis intervention to students. Participate in Center's collaborative care services provided in coordination with our Student Health Center colleagues. Participate in culturally responsive outreach, training, and liaison activities, and provide services to diverse and under-served populations. Participate in the APA approved doctoral internship and other training programs by providing supervision and training to interns and other trainees. Provide administrative and clinical supervision to unlicensed staff members. Serve as campus and professional organizations liaison. Provide outreach including psychological consultation and psycho-educational programming to students, faculty, and staff. Provide after-hours emergency coverage on a rotating basis and other after-hours services as needed. Fulfill other responsibilities as indicated and assigned. Adhere to professional ethics standards as mandated by state licensing board. Comply with immunization requirements as mandated by local medical authorities and recommended by the Center for Disease Control.
Duties and Responsibilities: Allocation of time to direct services: In keeping with national standards, up to 65% of time will be devoted to providing direct services, particularly during times of peak demand. This allocation of time will vary, however, depending on the demand for services the Center experiences during the year.Direct services include providing initial triage and intake assessments, individual and group counseling and psychotherapy; crisis intervention; case management/care coordination; and psychological assessment.Provide consultation to campus partners and key stakeholders regarding student welfare and crisis management response.Lead postvention efforts and services.Coordinate care with community partners and establish clinical referral relationships with community health care providers.Individual and group counseling and psychotherapy for students: Conduct individual and group counseling and psychotherapy following legal, clinical, ethical and professional standards.Develop treatment plans based on diagnostic information.Provide case management/care coordination for students referred to community-based treatment.Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments, including mandated assessments of risk to self or others.Crisis intervention: Assessment of risk to self or others.Provide individual or group debriefings in response to distressing events.Coordinate the mobile crisis response for students with psychiatric emergencies with key campus partners and community agencies as indicated.After-hours emergency coverage: On a rotating basis, carry Center's emergency cell phone and be available for after-hours crisis intervention and urgent consultation with members of the university community.Consultation and outreach: Provide psychological consultation and psycho-educational programming to university community as relevant to the Center's mission.Develop psycho-educational programming.Serve as a consultant for campus partners seeking to develop culturally responsive and equitable wellbeing programming.Training and clinical supervision of interns and other trainees: Provide clinical supervision to interns and other trainees, as assigned.Develop and provide seminars for interns and other trainees, as assigned.Administration: Maintain clinical documentation following Center, state, and HIPAA guidelines.Attend and participate in staff meetings.Coordinate services with other practitioners and agencies.Special Conditions of Employment: Effective June 1, 2023, based on CDC guidance, the University strongly encourages all campus members to stay up to date with Influenza and COVID-19 vaccination recommendations.Background check: Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.Degree Verification Requirement: Persons offered employment in this position will be required to provide official education transcripts for degree verification purposes.Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology (preferably APA-accredited) with internship in Professional Psychology (preferably APA-accredited) required.One (1) year working as a psychologist or postdoctoral candidate.Formal training and/or educational coursework in psychological testing and assessment.Licensure as a psychologist.Current knowledge of and adherence to ethical, legal, and professional guidelines required.Preferred Qualifications: Two (2) years supervising clinical or counseling staff.Previous experience in university counseling center.Previous experience providing trauma-informed response to individuals impacted by gender or sexual violence.Previous experience in clinical supervision.Performance Expectations - Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Performs all duties in a culturally responsive and ethical manner.Adheres to the highest ethical standards.Current knowledge of and adherence to ethical, legal, and professional guidelines.Supervisory skills.Demonstrated counseling and communication skills.Demonstrated crisis intervention skills.Compensation: $7575-$8333 per month; Excellent Benefits
