Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Educator Discipline: RN Duration: Ongoing Employment Type: Staff JOB SUMMARY The LTC Clinical Educator at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for coordinating and conducting comprehensive orientation and in-service/education programs for Registered Nurses, Surgical Technologists, and OR Aides in the Main Unit Surgery department.
They play a crucial role in ensuring staff competency, adherence to policies and procedures, and compliance with safety regulations, while actively participating in performance improvement projects and serving as a liaison to educational institutions and programs.
JOB FUNCTIONS Staff Education/Training: Evaluates need for/develops and implements continuing education programs for licensed staff in assigned area promoting critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Assist with nursing assistant and unit coordinator education for ongoing education.
Provides unit specific orientation to new staff.
Provides annual competency programs and additional hospital required programs utilizing adult learning principles using varied teaching methodologies and standardized lesson plan.
Handles difficult learning situations in the classroom and clinical area seeking a win-win solution.
Performance Improvement: Assesses results of Performance Improvement indicators.
Develops and implements programs based on this data to improve quality of care.
Resource Asset: Acts as a liaison between staff and other disciplines to assist in problem solving and transferring information to improve patient care.
Acts as of clinical resource for staff in assigned areas.
Communication: Creates and maintains good rapport within Nursing Service, ancillary departments, affiliates and other health services.
Maintains communication with multi-disciplinary team members to provide holistic care to patient.
Records: Maintains and reviews educational records of licensed nursing service employees; to include orientation competency and annual review.
Customer Relations: Projects a caring, friendly and helpful image to patients and customers.
Self-Development: Utilizes resources to stay informed of changing trends in nursing practice as well as evidence-based nursing practices.
Regulatory Knowledge: Complies with regulatory and accrediting agency requirements.
Facility-based Nurse Aide Training Programs: Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of those regulations and requirements.
Must stay update with CMS ongoing updates and changes in SNF/NF federal regulations; NATCEP programs.
Supervises nursing assistant training, curriculum, instruction.
Develop and implement, a facility-based, state approved, nurse aide training program under MSDH regulatory requirements.
Submit monthly expenditures including salary, books, and training equipment to the Division of Medicaid.
Responsible for maintaining facility equipment requirements as determined by the MSDH.
Responsible for annual recertification of training and testing center according to regulatory guidelines.
Submission of training schedule quarterly to the MS State Department of Health.
Collaborate with Directors of Nursing to determine training schedule adjustments to meet unit/facility needs.
