The RN Fellow position is an experienced RN looking to transition into the MSICU. You will be provided training -our Critical Care Fellowship! This is a full time Day/Night rotation position. 3 x 12-hour shift/week. Department Specific Information: The Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit (MSICU) at Inova Fairfax Hospital is an 18-bed adult unit. Our medical population includes but is not limited to: GI bleeding, COPD, sepsis, and septic shock. Our post-operative surgical population includes: esophagogastrostomy, AAA repair, numerous revascularization surgeries and abdominal surgery. We also provide care to liver, liver/pancreas transplant and obstetrical emergency patients. The MSICU Highlights: 18 private rooms (all have patient lifts), EpicCare electronic medical record technology for improved care and safety, Geriatric-sensitive color schemes and patterns for patient and visitor safety, Patient/Family zones in patient rooms to promote involvement, privacy and comfort, Larger patient room windows allowing more natural light to promote healing, 360-degree patient access in critical care rooms for urgent in-room procedures, Free Wi-Fi connectivity throughout hospital for convenience. Care needs of our patients may include, but is not limited to, patients requiring: Invasive hemodynamic and/or cardiac monitoring Intubation and mechanical ventilation Intravenous administration of vasoactive medications Conduction of medical and nursing research studies Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT). Requirements: - Minimum 1 year of RN experience. Prefer step down or IMCU experience. *This is not a New Grad RN position. - Education - BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an Associates Degree (ADN)- must complete BSN within 5 years of start date. - BLS (American Heart Association) required and ACLS strongly preferred (must obtain within first 3 months). - RN licensed, or eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a RN. - Proficient in English, strong verbal and written communication skills. - Exceptional interpersonal skill and the ability to display a caring demeanor towards others. - Proficient computer skills required.
