This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the purchasing department by developing, maintaining, and enforcing standardized procedures. The SOP Purchasing Specialist is critical in optimizing the purchasing processes, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations, and driving continuous improvement through collaboration with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
The Ford Purchasing team adds critical value to the entire organization. You'll help us source the highest quality parts and services from around the globe while ensuring optimal cost and on-time delivery. You'll also contribute to establishing a robust supply chain so that we can continually produce the vehicles our customers want.
What you'll do…
Procedure, Forms, and templates
Develop and maintain comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all aspects of the purchasing department.
Working with the Compliance Specialist, regularly review and update the SOPs, forms, and templates to reflect changes in company policies to ensure the procedures remain relevant, efficient, and compliant.
Compliance
Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements.
Work with the L&D specialist, develop and implement training programs for purchasing on relevant compliance standards and procedures. This will ensure that all team members are aware of and adhere to compliance requirements.
Contract Management
Develop and maintain a standardized contract management system for all purchasing agreements (MYA, Bailments, Insurance, Multi-Party Agreements, Contingent Liability, etc.). This includes managing templates for various contract types, achieving approved contracts, and tracking contract performance.
Track and archive contracts as the official record. Publish monthly activity status and follow up with owners on expired contracts.
Q1 Development
Engage with the STA manager and Purchasing managers to identify which site will be included in the annual Q1 development plan and communicate the list to the team.
Conduct a quarterly audit for sourcing compliance. When necessary, work with the buyer and supplier to correct nonconformances.
Critical Supplier List
Support the FSA/Recall manager by creating a list of service-specific suppliers that have the potential to impact FCSD negatively. Engage with buyers and ensure appropriate data fields are completed promptly.
Benchmarking
Support benchmarking exercises to compare the company's purchasing practices with industry best practices. This will identify areas where the company can improve efficiency, effectiveness, and cost competitiveness.
Share benchmarking findings with the purchasing team and relevant stakeholders to develop metrics and drive continuous improvement.
Supply Chain Engagement
Collaborate with the Supply Chain team to develop and implement strategies for engaging with suppliers. This includes building strong relationships with key suppliers, fostering collaboration, and driving continuous improvement in supplier performance.
Initiatives include but are not limited to the rollout of the Supplier Review Board (SRB) and Quarterly Delivery Cost Review (QDCR).

You'll have…
Bachelor's degree or equivalent
2+ years of Supply Chain/Purchasing experience.
