Job Summary
Under the immediate supervision of the Director of Sport Performance the incumbent will assist various sports teams with their strength and conditioning program.
Key Responsibilities
Perform support services for student athletes in the strength complex as outlined by the Director of Sport Performance.
Motivate student athletes with regards to strength and conditioning.
Manage tracking of training sessions and test results.
Assist with the enforcement and implementation of policies and procedures for the weight room.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
• Computer skills: Word, Excel, and email.
• Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to University, NCAA, and Big West/Golden Coast/MPSF Conference rules and regulations.
• Ability to motivate student-athletes to perform to their optimal level.
• Strong organizational, communication, and computer skills.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience
• Equivalent to six months of experience performing support services for an instructional program and involving such activities as preparing, producing, dispensing, or storing materials, supplies, and equipment required.
• Equivalent to six months of related experience involving developing and implementing strength and conditioning
based programming desired.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
Physical Summary
Heavy work - Job involves lifting more than 40 pounds. Approximately half of the incumbent's time will be spent walking, standing, squatting, kneeling, or climbing.
Licenses / Certificates
• CPR/First Aid certification required.
• The National Strength Coaches Association's CSCS certification (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) or the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association's SCCC certification (Strength and Conditioning Coach Certification) required.

The salary range for this classification is $21.23 to $30.36 per hour.
Time Base
Hourly/intermittent on call temporary position. Temporary appointments may be cancelled at any time. Successful candidates may be appointed for a few days and up to one (1) year depending on the assignment. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
