Job Description:Summary:The person in this position will provide structural engineering services as a member of multidisciplinary teams working on projects for industrial, power, dam structures, hydropower facilities, flood control structures, and other miscellaneous hydraulic structures for manufacturing, refining, and mining clients. Responsibilities include design and analysis, project management, preparation of plans and specifications, report writing, cost estimating, site inspections, and construction oversight. The work may require short-term, out-of-town work assignments.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in structural engineering or civil engineering with a structural emphasis (including structural analysis and steel and concrete design)At least 5 years of related work experienceProfessional engineer (PE) licensure or the ability to obtain within one yearStrong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members and clientsAttention to detail, accuracy, and completenessWillingness to work as part of a project team in an environment that encourages self-initiativeA flexible working style and the ability to work independently and with teams of specialists to meet client and project needsWork experience with AutoCAD and structural engineering analysis software such as RISA 3D, STAAD Pro, or MathCADLegal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the futurePossession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving recordPreferred Qualifications:8+ years of related work experienceMaster's degree in civil or structural engineeringExperience with 3D software such as Revit or CadWorxStrong technical and problem-solving skills involving a wide range of structural analysis and designExperience in the consulting industryExperience leading and mentoring entry level engineersDemonstrated ability to work independently and with multidisciplinary teamsDemonstrated project organization and management skillsA hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position is based out of Barr's Minneapolis, Hibbing, or Duluth, Minnesota; Ann Arbor, Michigan; Bismarck North Dakota; or Denver, Colorado, offices.Colorado Applicants Only:Compensation:The anticipated base salary range for this position is $73,000-90,000/year. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus.
