Position Summary:
As a Structural Field Inspector, you will provide duties in both the field and office setting to support the structural engineering department to include structural inspections, forensic inspections, drafting, design and analysis.
\n Job Responsibilities:Travel safely to various job sites in a company provided vehicle; maintain company vehicle (schedule oil changes, inside/outside upkeep and complete monthly vehicle inspection reports) Perform structural field inspections (residential and commercial) with a goal of 3-4 dailyPerform basic structural analysis calculations both by hand and softwarePrepare AutoCAD drafting of designs – residential homes, commercial buildings, retaining walls, etc. Responsible for obtaining purchase orders (PO) and work orders (WO) prior to work starting and/or releasing finalized work to clientsPrepare field inspection reportsPerform general tasks as assigned by department manager and/or perspective project managersDocument daily field activity and report findings to clients and supervisorsMaintain daily communication with site contractors, project managers and accounting clerkOther duties as assigned Qualifications & Skills:Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record High School diploma or equivalentRequired: 4-year Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering Preferred: focus in Structural or Geotechnical EngineeringPreferred Professional Certifications:Engineering-in-Training (EIT) certification or the ability to obtainKnowledge of International Building and Residential Codes, ACI, ASCE-07Preferred to have completed the following courses:Concrete Design ITimber Design ISteel Design IGeotechnical Engineering I and IIRetaining Wall Design Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:Days and hours for this position are typically Monday-Friday with holiday, weekend and overtime as neededRegularly exposed to outside weather conditions such as wet and/or humid environments, extreme cold and/or heat, dusty and noisy work environmentsSome work will take place in an office setting with exposure to moderate levels of noise that could include a business office with computers, printers, lab equipment and light travel throughoutField work on outside construction sites involving long-term standing, sitting and potentially repetitive motionsYou may be required to drive hundreds of miles per day, primarily within the Mid-Atlantic region (NC, SC, VA)Ability to use your senses to see (including close, distant and peripheral vision, depth vision and ability to focus), smell, hear and touch (use your hands to reach, climb or balance, crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel and sit)Ability to regularly lift and/or move/shake up to 100lbs.
