Matrix New World (a True Environmental company) is currently seeking a Structural / Geotechnical Engineering Technical Director (Hybrid). This is a strategic position for a lead technical role, providing investigation and design expertise, quality reviews, and team and project management for projects throughout the country, with a focus on our existing business in the NJ and NY Metro-Region, Gulf Coast and other emerging markets where flood resiliency, port development, transit and infrastructure upgrades, entertainment industry, offshore wind and shore protection are market drivers.
The successful candidate will report to top Matrix leadership and will develop, oversee and manage the technical delivery of complex structural, geotechnical and marine engineering projects. Matrix maintains a diverse portfolio of structural and geotechnical projects including small- and large-scale geotechnical investigations, site/civil structures, retaining walls, buildings, foundations, waterfront structures, bulkheads, marinas, piers, amusement rides, excavation support, and more. Experience in any and all of these areas is desired as well as experience in design utilizing concrete, steel, masonry, and timber, as well as composite materials and proprietary systems. Candidates shall demonstrate in-depth knowledge of geotechnical investigations and reporting, and designs, including slope stability analyses, site-specific seismic studies, complex analyses of sheeting, shoring, underpinning, and substantial variety in foundation and retaining structure designs.
Key Responsibilities: Manage project design and delivery for multiple simultaneous projects.Manage technical design and personnel for a wide variety of public and private projects and types of structures, investigations, and studies (transit and infrastructure, foundations, waterfront, geotechnical investigations, excavations, buildings, etc.).Provide technical oversight, quality control and serve as Engineer-of-Record for geotechnical investigations and reports, geotechnical and structural designs and contract documents including final plans, specifications and cost estimates.Provide overall project management of select projects as well as support of other design teams (waterfront/marine, civil, environmental, etc.) as warranted.Serve as a technical expert for internal and external clients.Prepare and support business proposals.Participate in marketing and business development initiatives as warranted. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related degree15+ years' experience in structural engineeringCertified Professional Engineer license Preferred Requirements: Experience in foundation and geotechnical design projects as well as ports and coastal offshore resiliency projectsMaster's DegreeDemonstrated success developing client relationshipsLicensed professional engineer in multiple states (New Jersey and New York preferred)Ability to work on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state-of-the-art technical or industry knowledge.
