DataStaff, Inc. is seeking a Structured Cabling Network Engineer for a long-term contract opportunity with one of our direct clients in Richmond, VA. *This position is onsite *This position may require statewide travel with an occasional overnight stay to perform work. Responsibilities: Provide network services for the Information Technology department: * Troubleshooting * Monitoring * Engineering * Cabling (Data/Voice) * Evaluating performance * Optimizing system performanceDesign, direct, review, implement, improve, engineer, and cable (network/voice). Work with vendors to develop and implement solutions, develop policies and guidelines, troubleshoot major/minor network failures, analyze network capacity, manage vendor relationships, support agreements, and validate network billing related to all aspects of the network based on Network and Telecommunications standards and best practices. Coordinate and interact with multiple vendors for problem resolution and diagnosing networking issues. Manage all phases of network installation and administration; to research and document communications technologies, topologies, and trends. Communicate effectively verbally and in writing with internal and external customers. Knowledge and Skills: Experience in network engineering to include analysis of network requirements, performance for a large-scale network. Experience in data and telecommunications to include installing, testing, and inspecting deployed data communications systems. Experience installing, migrating, and supporting critical, multi-site networks a plus. Knowledge of wireline and wireless communications technologies and standards, including fiber optics, T1, DS-3, MPLS, cellular / 5G, CDMA, TDMA, VoIP, TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, IP networking concepts (subnetting, routing). Proficiency using MS Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. With an excellent working knowledge of LAN, WAN, WAP, Cradle Point / NetCloud, and cabling standards. Required Skills: 5 Years - Experience in data and telecommunications to include installing, testing and inspecting deployed communications systems 5 Years - Experience installing, migrating, and supporting critical, multi-site networks. 5 Years - Knowledge of wire-line and wireless, including fiber optics, T1, DS-3, MPLS, cellular technologies, CDMA, TDMA, VoIP, 5G, TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, IP Networks 1 Years - Experience testing copper and fiber Desired Skills: 2 Years - Working knowledge of networking tools, such as; Fluke Versiv with light meter, netAlly AirCheck G3, netAlly nXG, iperf3, nmap, wireshark, traceroute, 1 Years - Intermediate skills in using Microsoft Office products, Outlook, Word, Excel and Visio. This position is available on a corp-to-corp basis or as a W2 position with competitive benefits package .
