POSITION REPORTS TO: Senior Associate Director or Athletics / Compliance & Student-Athlete Development
OVERVIEW:
Manhattan College, an NCAA Division I institution and member of the Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), is seeking applications for the vacant position of Student-Athlete Academic Success Services Coordinator.
The successful candidate, under the supervision of the Associate Director of Student-Athlete Academic Success Services, will assist with the overall academic success and retention of student-athletes participating in Manhattan College's 21 Division I intercollegiate athletics teams.
The Athletic Academic Advisor provides guidance and counseling, monitors academic progress and eligibility, and focuses on the overall well-being of their assigned student-athletes.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversees the academic progress from matriculation to graduation of assigned student-athletes. Provides academic counseling to academically "at-risk" student-athletes and determines appropriate intervention strategies.
Conducts weekly or bi-weekly meetings with "at-risk" student-athletes Assists the Sr Student Athlete Academic Advisor in developing, implementing, and monitoring creative intervention programs to enhance the development of time management and study skills for student-athletes. Distributes reports to coaches, support staff and various academic and athletic administrators regarding the academic progress of assigned student-athletes.
Supports Manhattan College's efforts to ensure the commitment to athletics, academics, personal growth, service, and career enhancement. Coordinates with the Sr Student Athlete Academic Advisor, School Academic Advisors, Assistant Deans and Athletic Department to assist student-athletes in meeting their academic objectives, progress toward degree and NCAA eligibility requirements.

Works with campus personnel with regard to transition to college issues, career development issues, and resources available through such services as the Counseling Center, and Office of Disability Services Monitors student-athlete Study Hall Program Maintains appropriate documentation and records to verify compliance with all NCAA, Conference, and College policies, rules, and regulations.
As a representative of Manhattan College continually demonstrates honesty, dignity and integrity when communicating with staff, students and peers both internally and externally. Promote an atmosphere for compliance by maintaining a working knowledge of NCAA/MAAC Conference rules and regulations. Works closely with the Sr. Student Athlete Academic Advisor, Assistant Vice President for Academic Success, Athletic Director, Athletic Administration, NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative, faculty, and coaches to provide guidance and academic support for student-athletes. Assists with student-athlete recruitment.
Assist with the Recruitment process Meet with prospective student-athletes to discuss academic programs and academic success services. Evaluate and conduct interviews with all prospective Men's and Women's Basketball student-athletes in collaboration with the Sr Student Athlete Academic Advisor and Assistant Vice President of Academic Success. Design, facilitate and evaluate programming for all student-athletes. Coordinate all academic intervention and academic success services. Regularly collect and analyze data from all programs with a focus on new initiatives to strategically enhance student-athlete's overall development. Maintain social media (Twitter & Instagram) accounts.
Help keep student-athlete aware of important dates, deadlines and campus wide information. Work with student-athletes and faculty to coordinate and proctor make-up exams. Represent Manhattan College at academic and athletic conferences as it pertains to our responsibilities. Occasional travel with teams to ensure that sufficient amount of time is allocated to academic course work. Supervises the Department of Student-Athlete Academic Success Services Graduate Assistant and Student-Worker . QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred in Counseling, Higher Education, Sport Administration or related field. Working knowledge of NCAA athletic eligibility regulations Knowledge of counseling theory Commitment to academic integrity and compliance with Manhattan College, MAAC conference, and NCAA regulations. Effective organizational skills. Strong listening and communication skills, both oral and written. The ability to work and communicate effectively with faculty, staff and students from diverse educational and social backgrounds. Working knowledge of the NCAA and MAAC Conference rules and regulations. Two years' experience required. Salary: $61,000
