Job Description The intern will be expected to work 40 hours a week during the summer with an option to work an average of 10 to 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters.
Primary activities include numerical analysis of underground structures, engineering support, and data analysis. Supplemental activities may involve design and assessment of ground support systems, conventional geotechnical analyses, mine planning and field work. The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of experienced engineering staff in these areas.
Qualifications The ideal candidate will have the following:
Must be working toward a bachelor of science or advanced degree in geological, mechanical, mining, civil engineering, or related field; with a focus in rock mechanics preferredStrong computer skills, especially in using finite element software, spreadsheets and structural analysis software are required Excellent interpersonal skills, be able to communicate effectively in writing and orally, and be self-motivated. Additional Information Compensation: Hourly wage depends on education and experience, range is $20-25/hour, plus statutory insurance requirements.
