Job Description - STUDENT LOAN ADVOCATE ATTORNEY (24000ASO) The Attorney General's Office is seeking to hire a Student Loan Advocate Attorney to work in the Attorney General's Insurance & Financial Services Division. The Division provides consumer assistance and enforces laws regarding insurance, investment, and lending issues, with a focus on postsecondary educational debt, including student loan servicing and debt collection.
Primary Duties: Engage in consumer advocacy, legal research, and investigation regarding consumer financial services issues, with a special focus on student loan and debt. Assist consumers in navigating federal student loan repayment and debt relief opportunities. Mediating consumer complaints and working on student loan and other financial services policy issues. Participate in outreach and education initiatives. Assist more experienced Assistant Attorneys General with the investigation/litigation of consumer protection matters, legal research, and the implementation of settlements. Position Type: Full-Time/Exempt. Our current hybrid model includes some remote workdays for most positions.

Qualifications: Position Requirements: JD from an accredited law school. Applicants with an excellent work ethic who are motivated to work in the public interest are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be highly motivated, intellectually curious, and able to quickly learn new and complicated subject areas. Attentiveness to detail is a must. Familiarity with financial products, student loans, or the Massachusetts Consumer Protection Act is helpful. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required. Applicants must be comfortable working autonomously, but also as part of a team. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a connection to the people and communities we serve and an interest in supporting a respectful, diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment.
