JOB SUMMARY Under the general supervision and direction of the Director of External Affairs, the Student Organizer is responsible for implementing grassroots efforts to organize, provide presentations, represent Planned Parenthood of Montana by conducting outreach in their community or on campus via tablings, networking, empower and mobilizing people on the Montana State University campus and Bozeman area in support of the mission of Planned Parenthood of Montana.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Advocating for Reproductive Health Care Campus organizing and speaking with volunteers and supporters about sexual and reproductive health (SRH), advocacy at events and presentations when permitted on campus and around Bozeman. Collaborates with the Director of External Affairs and Planned Parenthood Advocates of Montana (PPAMT) staff on goal setting to accomplish PPMT/PPAMT's strategic vision. Build supporter and volunteer capacity, relationships and partnerships to effectively build political power that supports sexual and reproductive health. Responsible for recruiting and supporting activists on the Montana State University campus and Bozeman area. Tactics include, but are not limited to: volunteer recruitment and training, outreach to community members and organizations, registering new voters and public speaking.
Building Community Develops, grows, and maintains relationships with supporters, community members, community organizations, business organizations, the general public, the voting public, and other PPMT and PPAMT staff. Develops, grows and maintains existing data lists for purposes of movement building and keeps accurate records.
Developing Leaders Assists in recruitment goals to create and grow an active supporter and volunteer base. Generates new activists and volunteers through organizing, outreach and special events efforts. Trains volunteers on Planned Parenthood of Montana priority issues, strategies, tactics, and state-specific legislation.
Works evenings and weekends as needed within a 20 hour a week schedule.
Performs all duties of position. Adheres to PPAMT code of conduct and all policies, procedures and protocols. Demonstrates and maintains a high degree of professionalism. Supports and acts in accordance with PPMT workplace values and customer service standards. Values continuous learning and seeks ongoing training and development. Demonstrates and models inclusion and justice awareness and practices.

This is a temporary position through 2024.
\n QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS Strong passion for sexual and reproductive health (SRH), and organizing/advocacy work, SRH-issue and candidate based get-out-the-vote (GOTV), related lived or volunteer experience. Ability to gather signatures in a crowd, set up a table with Planned Parenthood of Montana materials and engage with future volunteers and supporters on sexual and reproductive rights' issues, speak at events or in classes when invited. Able to effectively inspire and mobilize people who are committed to sexual and reproductive health and fundamental human rights, speak about the need for defending and increasing access to family planning services and sexuality education, and ensuring that access to reproductive health care including abortion remain secure and protected. Demonstrated capacity for strategic thinking to identify and develop good organizing strategies appropriate to the accomplishment of organizing goals. Possess personal initiative, is self-motivated, and is able to successfully manage multiple tasks, work under pressure and produce quality within tight time constraints. Strong motivational skills, work ethic, and desire to mobilize students and community members to be more actively involved and engaged in order to achieve progressive political victories on the local, state and national level. Additional Requirements Must have access to reliable transportation method. Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times. Computer proficient with Google Suite, experience with Voter Activation Network (VAN) helpful, but not required. Strong organizational skills and attention to accuracy and detail is essential. Ability to handle multiple competing priorities, effectively prioritizing individual and organizational work/inquiries. Ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure, and work under general supervision. High integrity with excellent communication skills, verbal and written to be able to communicate a public affairs agenda to the voting public as well as the general public. Skilled at working independently as well as within a team, able to collaborate across organizations and amongst departments, exhibits a solid understanding of strategic priorities.Ability to work well with others in a positive, respectful and professional manner. Desired Experience Experience working in a community based setting with diverse groups of people. STANDARD REQUIREMENTS Maintains focus on cost effectiveness and responsible stewardship of funds.
