Due to expansion in New Jersey, Signet Health is actively seeking a Substance Abuse Coordinator for our program at Valley Health in Ridgewood, NJ.
This position will maintain oversight over the substance abuse counseling services provided in the Recovery and Wellness medical detox unit. The coordinator will oversee a specified panel of substance-use disorder patients with varying health status and severity, addressing high-risk psychosocial and clinical needs.
The role involves coordinating and facilitating care for high-risk substance-use disorder patients through the Valley Health Care System, ensuring a multidisciplinary approach to patient care and smooth transitions between healthcare organizations and community providers. This ensures the continuation of safe and quality care for patients across all settings.
The responsibilities include:
Developing and maintaining written objectives, policies, procedures, and an organizational plan for substance abuse counseling services, which will be reviewed by the administrator.Ensuring that behavioral and pharmacologic treatment approaches are evidence-based or based on universally accepted information, consistent with recognized treatment principles and practices.Providing or ensuring direct clinical supervision for all clinical staff for at least one hour per week, with group supervision not exceeding 50 percent of supervision time, in compliance with N.J.A.C. 13:34C.Ensuring that substance abuse counseling services are provided as per the client treatment plan, coordinated with other client care services to ensure continuity of care.Ensuring that the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of clients with co-occurring disorders are conducted by appropriately trained and qualified clinical staff.Assisting in developing and maintaining written job descriptions for substance abuse counseling personnel and assigning duties.Assessing and participating in staff education activities and providing consultation to facility personnel.Providing orientation and evaluation of new counseling staff before assigning them responsibilities.Ensuring that all counseling staff are properly licensed or credentialed as per regulations.Participating in identifying quality care indicators and outcome objectives, and collecting and reviewing data to monitor staff and program performance.Participating in planning and budgeting for the provision of substance abuse counseling services.Ensuring that clinical staff, including counselor-interns, are supervised by appropriately credentialed staff.Requirements/Qualifications Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited program. Licensed Clinical Social Worker required.Minimum of five years of experience in addiction services and certification as a clinical supervisor or LCADC (Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor).
