Purpose: Provide substance abuse counseling to clients of The Salvation Army Harbor Light System in accordance with Harbor Light policies and procedures.
Summary: Apply clinical practices and provide client services to the clients of The Salvation Army Harbor Light
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Conduct individual, group, and educational counseling sessionsMaintain case records in accordance with Harbor Light standardsFollows up to determine reliability and validity of individual client treatment plan established; makes recommendations regarding modification to services and service deliveryMaintain contact with referral sources, (i.e., gatekeeper, parole/probation agents) submitting requests for authorization for treatment as well as required reportsComplete discharge documentation on each client to include aftercare plan, referral and letters to referring agenciesParticipates in the review of all clinical issues, activities and program policies and proceduresDistribute/collect treatment satisfaction surveys at beginning of treatment, mid treatment and at dischargeAttends all clinical staff meetings, and team conferencesParticipates in educational courses, seminars, workshops, current literature and in-service meetings to enhance treatment skillsQualifications: Minimum two (2) years of experience working with substance abuse populationsTB Test and police clearance requiredAuthorization to work within The United StatesEducation/Experience: Must possess a Masters degree in Behavioral Science (Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology)Computer Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications and email systemExperience using Electronic Medical Records system preferredReasoning Ability: Understand and work within The Salvation Army and Harbor Light Mission StatementsPossess an excellent working knowledge of The Harbor Light Policies and ProceduresCertificates and Licenses: Must possess approved MCBAP certification (CADC, CAADC, etc), approved Development Plan, or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employmentMust possess State of Michigan license (LLMSW, LMSW, LPC, LLPC)Physical Demands: Ability to lift 10 poundsFrequent sitting for long periods of timeCapability to visually inspect packages, equipment and fixtures, as well as observe people and eventsAbility to hear and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentencesCapability to use standard office machines like copiers and fax machinesWork Environment: Office setting
