This is a non-contract position that is open to external candidates at the hourly rates listed below. An individual in this position could provide support to our schools as either a principal or an assistant principal for a varying length of time. If a candidate is hired to be a part of the CPS Substitute Building Administrator Pool, they will be contacted for specific opportunities as they arise. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The temporary Administrative Substitute assumes overall school administration responsibilities, encompassing various tasks such as enhancing student academic achievement, fostering positive student-centered relationships, ensuring a safe and appealing school environment, and optimizing school facility usage. Additional duties include:
Providing short and long-term coverage for principal absences
Displaying active and visible leadership to students, teachers, staff, and parents
Sustaining effective daily communication with site-based leadership to maintain school operations during Principal absence
Directing day-to-day activities of building staff, including hiring, training, evaluating performance, and, if needed, addressing disciplinary actions
Supervising academic instruction to align with the building and district's mission and instructional goals
Offering guidance to staff engaged in student instruction
Managing procurement of books, supplies, and equipment within approved budgets
Planning and conducting staff development activities to address building instructional needs
Monitoring building compliance with regulations and district standards
Supporting implementation of after-school activities and events, ensuring appropriate student conduct
Establishing and nurturing open communication with central office administrators, building staff, students, parents, and others to promote the building's philosophy and mission
Cultivating positive school-community relations by effectively communicating school messages, responding courteously and promptly to inquiries, and maintaining visibility within the student and parent community
Fulfilling any other duties as assigned
Related Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Proven familiarity with accrediting and regulatory standards and district policies relevant to assigned functions.
Demonstrated supervisory prowess in efficiently managing daily operations and administration of assigned function(s).
Interpersonal skills essential for effective communication and productive collaboration with district staff, students, parents, and the wider community.
Capability to handle challenging situations diplomatically, courteously, and with respect.
Proficiency in computer skills to maintain departmental records, documents, and reports.
Strong written and verbal communication abilities, including effective presentation skills.
Analytical aptitude to devise timely action plans for addressing various issues and concerns.
Mathematical competence necessary for budget development and expenditure monitoring on an annual basis.
Proven ability to serve effectively as both a leader and a team member.
Education, Licensure, and Experience: A Master's degree in Education or a related field is required.
A minimum of one or more years of experience as an assistant principal or principal, which includes supervisory responsibilities.
Valid Ohio Department of Education Principal License or its equivalent.
Ohio Teacher Evaluation System (OTES) Certification preferred
CONTRACT PROVISIONS
TYPE OF CONTRACT: This is a non-contract position with an hourly rate.

$70/hourly
