Position Summary
Leads Discovery & Optimization (LDO) is a diverse group of scientists and engineers, providing critical assay information to therapeutic research centers (TRCs) throughout research and early development (R&ED). We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative intern scientist to join the Lead Discovery (LD) group within LDO. Team objectives include hit identification, evaluation and lead optimization and understanding mechanism of action utilizing biochemical and cellular assays.
We invite undergraduates with appropriate training from all backgrounds to apply for this opportunity in our collaborative and fast-paced team. You will work in a highly dynamic environment at the center of the R&ED drug discovery engine to use cutting edge software tools applied to complex drug discovery problems. Specifically, you will be involved in data extraction, data analysis and create visualization to influence faster and more robust lead discovery campaigns. Importantly, this opportunity will expose you to a myriad of real-world examples and datasets that will serve to hone and advance your data science skillsets to the next level!
Key Responsibilities
The candidate will gain practical knowledge of working with large drug discovery data sets.
Meta data capture, organization, sorting and analytics and create visualization.
Analyze datasets and present scientific findings at the conclusion of the program.
Qualifications & Experience
Junior or Senior undergraduate enrolled in a full-time university program in a technically relevant field, such as Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or related field.
Strong quantitative and analytical reasoning skills.
Demonstrated ability to conduct independent Data Analytics
Experience with data engineering, SQL/Oracle databases and queries, Python, Data Analytics is preferred.
Programming and data visualization experience in one or more scripting languages such as Python or R
Demonstrated enthusiasm for quality science and interpersonal skills to excel in a cross-functional team setting.
This role is a computational role located at our Lawrenceville NJ site and requires onsite presence.
