Position Summary
The Hematology Translational Medicine group seeks a talented and highly motivated undergraduate student interested in a summer internship that offers hands-on translational research experience in a team-oriented, fast paced environment. The student, working closely with a mentor, will be assigned an exciting project related to projects associated with understanding mechanism(s) of action for molecule in clinical development in hematology. During the 10-week internship, the student will be mentored in the development of laboratory experiments, critical thinking, translational application into the clinic, data/literature analysis, and presentation/verbal communication skills.The successful candidate will have enthusiasm for working and learning new experimental techniques in a laboratory setting.
Key Responsibilities
Actively contribute to experimental design and execution of translational project, which is aligned with Hematology Translational
Participate in BMS student internship requirements
Literature/data review to understand project context, impact and timely communication of data
Present internship project to the Translational Medicine group at the conclusion of the internship
Qualifications & Experience
Current undergraduate student majoring in field related to biology (chemistry, biology, cellular biology).
Availability for full-time employment (40 hrs/week) throughout the internship period (early June through mid-August).
Interpersonal and collaboration skills, including the willingness and ability to foster working relationships with a range of stakeholders. Flexibilities to changing priorities.
Prior experience in wet lab experimentation and data analysis is preferred.
