National Grid is hiring Supervisors for our Construction division in Malden, Waltham, and West Roxbury.
This role is approximately 60% in the field/outdoors and 40% in the office.
Job Purpose
To be responsible for the safety, reliability, security and integrity of the gas distribution system through the daily supervision and organization of operations personnel to complete job tasks while complying with Company and Regulatory requirements.
Key Accountabilities Supervise internal and contracted personnel to assure efficient and cost-effective completion of work within the area of responsibility.
Provide emergency response and supervision of personnel engaged in a 24/7 operation.
Supervise a culturally diverse workforce through coaching, and team building to ensure tasks are carried out in an efficient manner.
Oversee the operational workload of team to ensure allocated resources are fully utilized to deliver against agreed upon work plan and execute work activities within planned unit and budget cost.
Ensure supervised teams comply with safety standards, policies and processes to ensure a safe working environment and minimize risk for all staff.
Execute all work tasks in compliance with all Company, Federal and State policy and regulatory requirements.
Manage performance metrics for group and individual performance.
Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required Strong leadership, influencing, customer orientation and communication skills, providing the ability to promote team working and harmonious working between site staff, project teams and contractors.
Qualifications A Bachelor's degree in a related area, and/or 3-5 years of related experience Committed to 'on the job' training programs with practical experience of methods, processes and techniques relevant to area or discipline Supervisory experience, preferably in utilities, construction or plumbing strongly preferred More Information Salary - $101,000 - $119,000
Please be advised that due to the nature of this position, incumbents are subject to federal Drug & Alcohol safety regulations governing US Department of Transportation ("DOT") covered positions, including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Pipeline Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA).
As such, the Company's testing programs and policies regarding the use of federally prohibited drugs or alcohol, for recreational or medical purposes, will remain in effect for these safety-sensitive, DOT covered positions.
